Gemma Triay on the decision to separate from Salazar: ”Easy to say something else afterwards”

ANNONS

In early August, Gemma Triay announced that she was separating from Alejandra Salazar to continue with Marta Ortega. The breakup resulted in major drama from both players.
Now Gemma Triay is speaking out about whether it was the right decision.

Gemma Triay and Alejandra Salazar separated after a long partnership together. Last year, they made history by winning twelve titles.

Gemma Triay announced that she would continue her partnership with Marta Ortega for the upcoming autumn season.

Alejandra Salazar chose to share her thoughts on the separation on Instagram:

”I believe this partnership deserved a different farewell, concluding their chapter on the court and striving for the top, as we have always done”.

Gemma Triay then explained the decision to the Spanish newspaper Marca.

”I took this decision because it affected me personally too much to be able to perform on the court”.

Gemma about the decision

It is now clear that Gemma Triay and Marta Ortega are also going their separate ways. The players announced this last week.

Now Gemma Triay tells the Spanish newspaper Marca whether the decision last summer to separate from Salazar was right.

— I always have doubts, maybe the logical thing was to finish the season and what Triazar deserved, but at that moment I felt that way because I saw that there was something wrong that didn't work. I thought that was when it had to be done. Now it is very easy to say "no, I should have continued with Ale, we could have done very well". Yes, it's clear.

She continues:

— With Ale it wasn't because of her elbow injury or performance, and luckily I had already talked to Alejandra, everything was much better, we told each other what had been bothering us with each other and that was better than it ending badly. These things happen and I knew that this conversation would help the relationship to improve.
