Ale Salazar after the split: "This couple deserved a different farewell"

ANNONS

The Spanish player took to social media following Gemma Triay's announcement of their partnership coming to an end.

After over two years of dominating the world of women's padel, the 'Triazar' partnership has come to a close. Gemma Triay declared the conclusion of one of the greatest pairs in padel history this Wednesday.

In response to Triay's announcement, Alejandra Salazar expressed her regret over her (former) teammate's decision. The Madrid-born player also took the opportunity to acknowledge and thank the entire team for the three years filled with shared experiences and challenges on the courts.

"I believe this partnership deserved a different farewell, concluding their chapter on the court and striving for the top, as we have always done. I can only respect and accept that these are situations that are also part of our day-to-day lives as professional players, and I am grateful to Gemma and our entire 'Triazar' team for everything we've experienced in these almost fantastic 3 years," she stated.

"A challenging moment"

The announcement of the split comes at a delicate time for Salazar, who is in the midst of recovering from elbow surgery she underwent last June. This procedure aimed to put an end to an injury that had plagued her for two long years.

"It's a challenging moment for me, as I emerge from surgery to address an elbow injury that I've been carrying for years. And it's in this situation that I cling most to the values that sports have instilled in me over these 20+ years: determination, effort, empathy, teamwork, not giving up after a defeat or injury, self-critique, resilience, commitment and respect," shared the 37-year-old player.

The padel star concluded her words with a message to her followers and sponsors: "I deeply apologize to our sponsors who have supported this joint project from day one, and to all of you, unwavering fans of this partnership. Rest assured, I will approach my new path with the same passion and professionalism as always."

While numerous names are already being mentioned to accompany the Spaniard in the second part of the season, the new partner for Salazar has not yet been announced.
