Borges after the final in Chile: "Alejandro Galán must be urgently dismissed"
The promoter Lisandro Borges charged harshly against Alejandro Galan, after the refereeing scandal of the final of the World Padel Tour Open in Chile.
After the strange episode in the final of the Chile Open, where Agustín Tapia and Arturo Coello had to beat Lebrón and Galán twice, the world number ones have received a lot of criticism.
Alejandro Galán, who was the one who complained to the authorities after the refereeing error, was the clear target of the critics, being subjected to all kinds of reproaches through social networks.
One of those who spoke out about it was the Argentine promoter of the World Padel Tour, Lisandro Borges, with whom Galan had already had conflicts after the absence of the number ones at the La Rioja Open.
The businessman took advantage of the occasion to charge harshly against Galán, whom he branded as "unsportsmanlike" and acting in bad faith.
"Urgently dismissed"
Borges went even further, calling for sanctions against the Spanish pair:
"Padel is a gentleman's sport. What they did today is unacceptable from any point of view. They should be sanctioned and fined for such an inappropriate behaviour, which only tried to tarnish a spectacular tournament," he said.
In addition, he called on PPA members to take action, and asked for the dismissal of Galán as president of the association.
"Let Alejandro Galán be urgently DISMISSED from his position in the PPA. An association that tries to bring the players together, to unite them, cannot have a president representing them who has (already on several occasions) incurred in matters that go against fair play, sporting loyalty and bad faith," stated Borges.
Padel Alto contacted the player's representative, but the decision was not to make a statement on the matter.
