Strong reactions against Galan after the scandal in the final

ANNONS

Alejandro Galan has received many strong reactions on social media after the final of the Chile Padel Open, after the refereeing scandal that occurred during the final against Agustin Tapia and Arturo Coello.

In the final of the Chile Padel Open, scandalous scenes unfolded. Everyone thought the match was over after the second set when Agustin Tapia smashed out the ball.

The pair cheered, the crowd screamed, and the referee said, 'game set and match.' But Alejandro Galan then argued that Arturo Coello's points had been awarded to Galan and Juan Lebron.

Sure enough, the referee said out loud 30-40 instead of 40-30, as Coello and Tapia assumed. After a discussion, the referee changed his decision, and the game went to a golden point, which Juan Lebron and Ale Galan won.

Went to a third set

On social media, reactions are strong against the Spaniards, but mainly against Alejandro Galan, who many believe should have given the point and, thus, the match to Agustin Tapia and Arturo Coello.

The match went to a third set where Ale Galan and Juan Lebron had match point. However, Agustin Tapia and Arturo Coello turned around and won 7-5 in the final set to claim their third WPT title in as many tournaments as possible.

Padel Alto has been in contact with Alejandro Galan's representative, and they have chosen not to comment on the matter.
