Belgium's first Open tournament aims high: ”Expect at least 50 000 people”

ANNONS
Padel Alto previously reported that Belgium will have its first World Padel Tour Open tournament in 2022. Now the organizers tell Padel Magazine about their grand plans for the competition.
— We expect at least 50 000 people, Vincent Laureyssens, chairman of the organizing committee of the World Padel Tour Brussels Padel Open, says to the French site.

Fifty thousand people sound high? Yes, let's be clear. There are two different types of tickets that will be sold to Belgiums first-ever Open tournament. One is the classic type where you will see the matches on the center court as a spectator.

The other is a ticket type to access the extra courts plus the sponsor village area. The venue is Gare Maritime de Tour & Taxis in Brussels. An old industrial building that has been converted.

— It is an architecturally top location. 15 000 m2 in the city center of Brussels, wholly renovated, Vincent Laureyssens says to Padel Magazine.

And continues:

— We expect at least 50,000 people, 3,000 VIPs. We will have a lovely village for the exhibitors. The finals will be broadcast in 70 countries, he says.

Brussels Padel Open will be held between the 3rd and 8th of May. It is unclear how many people can be accommodated at the center court at the same time for the final stages of the tournament. At the time of writing, it is also unclear whether the tournament qualifiers are held in Belgium or Spain.

It is already clear that Denmark will also have its first World Padel Tour Open. The World Padel Tour has not officially communicated all venues. But here is the unofficial list that Padel Alto has taken note of.
