He defies the PPA — signs the WPT contract and leaves the association

Alvaro Cepero is the first player to officially sign a new contract with the World Padel Tour, he told Radio Marca in an interview.

The 55-ranked WPT player defies the Professional Players Association's line of not signing the contract.

He announces at the same time that he is leaving the Men's Players Association (PPA), where Alejandro Galan is president.

– I was associated until recently, and it is something I still want because I think it is good for the player. I left because I disagree with many things, there is little transparency and they tell you that 'this and that must be kept secret...', he tello to Marca.

Alvaro Cepero has previously criticized players on the circuit and called the players liars in an interview with Padel Alto. The reason was that many players did not want to participate in the World Padel Tour's Challenger competitions but still signed up for the tournaments.

— They are all liars. There are a lot of talks but no action, he said to Padel Alto.

According to information provided to Padel Alto, the deadline to sign the five-year contract is on Sunday. So far, only Alvaro Cepero has announced that he has signed.

Yesterday, PPA sent a press release accusing the WPT of pressuring players to sign the contract. They have previously called on their players to boycott the World Padel Tour meeting in Menorca, where the WPT presented its new proposal for the tour. Only Sanyo Gutierrez attended the meeting of the top players.
