PPA refuses to listen to WPT's new proposal: "The called meeting will not be attended”

The Professional Players Association (PPA) has sent a letter to World Padel Tour, stating that they will not listen to any offer as long as the demand to the players is maintained. The news, reported by Padelazo, comes six days before the date set by the tour to present to the players a new renewal proposal.

A few days ago, the WPT board of directors sent a letter to the players announcing a new proposal to renew the circuit. In it, players were invited to attend, and accommodation and expenses were offered for those who did not qualify for the main draw. The presentation of this proposal was scheduled for the 18th of October, during the WPT Menorca Open.

Today, the players' association sent a statement to the circuit, announcing that it will not attend as long as the lawsuits against the players continue.

"In order to be able to respond to any request, it is a prerequisite and indispensable requirement that Setpoint Events S.A., modifies its conduct, treatment and relationship with the players in order to treat them as equals and, in particular, that it withdraws any legal action brought against the players and the association itself beforehand".

The association, which brings together more than 200 professional players, cannot conceive of even listening to the new proposal without first ensuring that the legal dispute can be finalised.

In addition, according to the statement to which Padelazo had access, the PPA warns World Padel Tour that future communications should be addressed to the association and not to individual players.

"Any future approach that you wish to make should be addressed centrally to the Board of Directors of this association and not try to bypass it as you have repeatedly done," the communiqué concludes.
