Majo Alayeto injured — the twin with a new partner in Denmark
Former world number one pair of twins Mapi Alayeto and Majo Alayeto was forced to withdraw from the Brussels WPT in the Round of 16 due to an injury to Majo Alayeto. Now it is clear that Majo will be out for a few weeks.
"While she recovers, Mapi will be playing with Sofia Araujo," the pair wrote on their joint Instagram.
In the round of 16 against Ana Nogueira/Maria Del Carmen Villalba, the eighth-ranked pair Mapi Alayeto/Majo Alayeto withdrew due to Majo suffering an injury.
Unfortunately, the injury is so serious that she will miss the next World Padel Tour tournament in Denmark, the Danish Padel Open.
”Majo will be off the course for a few weeks but will be working from day one to get back as soon as possible,” the twins wrote on Instagram.
The former world number one had a tough last year when Mapi Alayeto was struck by the nerve disease MS, and they missed several tournaments. This year, at best, they have reached two semi-finals and a final in a Challenger.
Portuguese Sofia Araujo is ranked 27 in the world and normally plays with talented Lorena Rufo.
