FIP president attacks WPT — starts new tour with Nasser Al-Khelaifi
There have been many rumors about the future world tour of padel. Last weekend, the current World Padel Tour received strong criticism from the Men's Players Association led by Alejandro Galan.
In December Padel Alto was the first to reveal that the president of the football team Paris Saint Germain and the Qatari businessman, Nasser Al-Khelaifi was interesting to start a new tour. Now there is a plan for the future leading tour created by FIP, the International Padel Federation, together with Nasser Al-Khelaifi.
The players have contracts with the World Padel Tour until the end of 2023 and will play out their contracts. Then the FIP, headed by Luigi Carraro and Nasser Al-Khelaifi, will take over. According to a reliable source, ten tournaments will be organized this year during the World Padel Tour season.
The competitions will be held in ten different countries, which are unknown at the time of writing.

On Tuesday, there was also the news that Luigi Carraro, President of the FIP, had sent a letter to the IOC (Olympic Committee). The president attacks the World Padel Tour and suggests that the FIP organize the future tour. Marca first reported this news.
”Along our path towards the worldwide development and growth of our precious sport discipline, we are running into great difficulties regarding a 100% private circuit called "World Padel Tour," organized since 2013 by the Spanish group Estrella-Damm (from the beer sector) and exploited by the company Setpoint Events S. A”, the letter says.
Luigi Carraro doesn't hold back about what he thinks of the World Padel Tour. Like the players this weekend, he is strongly critical of the tour.
”It follows its own rules and objectives, among which are to organize events only in the most developed areas of the world, where padel already enjoys popularity (such as in Spain, where 80-90% of its tournaments are organized), to maximize its profits and business opportunities”,
