Tison to the main round – first French player in history
The French player Benjamin Tison and his partner Victor Zapata went from Pre-Previa to the round of 16. It is the first time a French player goes into the main round in a World Padel Tour tournament.
In the Previa-final, the team shocked the Spanish pair Rafael Mendez (57-ranked) and Salvador Oria Ortega (63-ranked) with 6-3, 6-2.
Earlier on Tuesday, the pair beat the well-known pair Aday Santana and Cristian Gutierrez in the second round of Previa.
In Wednesday's round of 32, Benjamin Tison, with his Spanish partner, Victor Zapata, faces the leaders of the Race 2021 and the two times finalist of the season, Franco Stupaczuk and Alex Ruiz.
— On paper, it seems impossible. But I like the competition, and when you get on the pitch, it's inevitable to win, says Benjamin Tison to Padel Magazine.
Padel Alto has earlier written about the talented player Javi Leal that went from Pre-Previa to the main round with Miguel Semmler. The pair has done it two times in a row, both in Alicante Open and now in Vigo Open.
