The rising star strikes again — knocked out number 12 in the world
The rising padel star Javi Leal is shocking the padel world right now. After his success in the Alicante Open, he and Miguel Semmler are ready for the round of 16 in Vigo Open after knocking out Agustin Silingo (17) and Mati Diaz (12) in the round of 32.
17-year-old Javi Leal and Miguel Semmler shocked the padel world when the pair went off the impressive way of making it from the Pre-Previa to the main round of the Alicante Open.
Once there, they took a set against world stars Uri Botello and Javi Ruiz.
Now, the rising star and Miguel Semmler have done it again. But this time was not the main round enough. The pair won the first match in the main round against Slingo (17-ranked) and Diaz (12-ranked) with 6-1, 4-6, 6-4.
The pair have taken the same route from Pre-Previa to the round of 16 at the Vigo Open.
In the Previa final, the team lost the first set 1-6. The second set was 5-5 when 63-ranked Aris Patiniotis suffered an injury.
"It's not the way we wanted to go forward. I hope you get well soon," Javi, the 101-ranked Leal, wrote on his Instagram after the game.
On Thursday, the pair will face Martin Pineiro and Javier Barahona. The winners from that match can face Juan Lebron and Ale Galan in a potential quarter-final.
