Galan and Chingotto withdraw from FIP tournament
Ale Galan and Fede Chingotto have withdrawn from FIP Platinum Lyon. The news was confirmed when the draw was released for this week’s tournament.
The pair had great success when they won Premier Padel Milano P1.
In the final, they defeated Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia 2–6, 6–3, 6–0 — a win that also marked the first time Coello and Tapia lost a set 6–0 on the Premier Padel tour.
The victory has made the fight for first place in this year’s rankings closer. Coello and Tapia now have 14,100 points, while Galan and Chingotto have 12,020 — a difference of just over 2,000 points.
The season is far from over. One P2, one P1, one Major, the Tour Finals, and the World Cup for pairs remain — with the winners earning the same amount of points as in a Major, 2,000.
This means Galan and Chingotto still have a chance to close the gap to Coello and Tapia.
They were also expected to play FIP Platinum Lyon, where the champions earn 300 ranking points. The pair were registered, but when the draw was released it became clear that they had withdrawn.
As a result, Martin Di Nenno and Javi Leal are now the top seeds in the men’s draw, followed by Francisco Guerrero and Momo Gonzalez.
On the women’s side, Tamara Icardo and Marina Guinart España are the top seeds, with Alejandra Alonso and Lucia Sainz as the second seeds.
FIP Platinum Lyon is being played this week.
