Historical change in the ranking after Tarragona P1
For 840 days, Ariana Sanchez and Paula Josemaria have been the top seeds. But today, that streak came to an end – and a new one began when Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea won the final in Spain.
The final, played on Sunday evening, ended 7–6, 6–4 in favor of Triay and Brea. The match was not just a battle for a title – but also for the top seed position.
Ariana Sanchez and Paula Josemaria have held the top spot in every tournament since April 16, 2023, when they won the Granada Open against Gemma Triay and Alejandra Salazar. But after Sunday’s defeat, Triay takes back the top spot, now together with Delfi Brea.
Triay had already surpassed both Sanchez and Josemaria individually in the world rankings. Now, this victory means that the pair Brea/Triay will be the top seeds in the next tournament.
