After 840 days – today the streak could end

For over two years, Ariana Sanchez and Paula Josemaria have been the top seeds at every tournament on both the World Padel Tour and Premier Padel. But today, that streak could come to an end. If they lose the final in Tarragona, history will be made – ending a 840-day run as the No. 1 seeds.

And this is no ordinary final. On the other side of the net are Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea, with the top seed on the line. A spot Sanchez and Josemaria have held since April 16, 2023, after they won the Granada Open against none other than Gemma Triay and Alejandra Salazar.

But today, Gemma Triay – now playing with Delfi Brea – has the chance to reclaim that top position.

Triay has already overtaken Sanchez and Josemaria in the individual world rankings and is currently No. 1 – but now it’s the team ranking that matters.

The winner of the final will be the top-seeded pair in the next tournament.

The final starts at 5pm and is broadcast on Red Bull TV.
