This week’s tournament replaces last year’s P2 – ranking impact

Last year, a Premier Padel tournament was held in Finland during this time period. This means players are now defending the ranking points they earned at that event, as this week’s tournament in Spain takes place.

On the FIP ranking, a player’s best 22 results count. To maintain their ranking position, players must defend the points they earned during the same period the previous year.

Since no tournament is being held in Finland this year, Premier Padel has decided that this week’s event in Spain will instead be the one that impacts the ranking points.

The announcement was made in a press release from Premier Padel.

It's also worth noting that many top players skipped the Finland tournament last year. That event was a P2, while this week’s tournament in Tarragona is a P1 – offering more ranking points.
