Venue confirmed for new European Championship format
Two months ago, the International Padel Federation announced a new format to replace the European Championship. The new structure has three phases. It is now confirmed that the first two phases will be played in Madrid.
The first and second phases will be held between July 7 and 13 at PadelG24 Club in Madrid, which has 17 indoor courts.
Here is how FIP explains the new format:
There will be 40 teams in the men’s tournament and 40 teams in the women’s tournament in the 2025 edition, which will be divided into three phases, the first two of which will be played from July 7th to 13th at the same venue:
In the first phase (from day 1 to day 4) the national teams with the lowest rankings will compete for four places in the second phase, when the national teams from 5th to 16th place in the European ranking will enter the scene, and from day 5 to day 7 they will compete for qualification to the final phase.
Awaiting the four teams from the second phase will be Spain, Italy, Portugal and France, the top four national teams in the European ranking, with the eight finalists divided into two groups of four, from which the four semi-finalists will emerge.
It is not yet known when and where the final phase will be played.
