GUIDE: After the uncertain season start – how the rankings are affected this week

ANNONS

This week, the first Major of the year is played – with 2,000 points on the line for the winners. These are important points in a close ranking battle.

This year’s Premier Padel season has been unusual on the men’s side. In two of the early tournaments, nearly all top 100 players were missing. When they have played, results have been more surprising than in 2024, when many finals felt decided before they started.

Here’s the top 10 before the Major. Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia have a big lead for first place, and Alejandro Galán and Federico Chingotto are well ahead in second. But further down the list, it’s much even.

*Lebron and Stupa have withdrawn from the competition.

A key position is top eight, which gives a spot as quarterfinal seed. If Pablo Cardona and Leo Augsburger perform well, they have a good chance to reach the top eight.

Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea lead this year’s Race, followed by Paula Josemaría and Ariana Sánchez. Thanks to last year’s results, they still have a strong lead.

But on the official world ranking, their number one spot is more at risk – with Gemma Triay as a challenger. She was last world number one with Alejandra Salazar before Sánchez and Josemaría took over in 2023. Now the gap is just over 2,000 points.

The battle for fifth place is also very close and could change after this week’s Major – just like the important eighth place.
