This week, the Premier Padel season continues with a P2 tournament in Mexico. Two weeks ago, a P2 tournament was held in Gijón, where the entire top 100 on the men’s side was absent after players chose not to participate. For this week's tournament in Mexico, nearly all top 100 men’s players are still missing, but with one key difference. Juan Lebron and Franco Stupaczuk registered just over an hour before the deadline and enter as the clear favorites.
On the women’s side, most top players are competing, but Bea Gonzalez and Claudia Fernandez are absent. The players have not commented on their decision, but it is not uncommon for some top players to sit out a P2 tournament during a long season—something that also happened last year.
