Four days left to register – almost all top male players missing

ANNONS

This week's Premier Padel tournament in Gijón will be anything but ordinary, as all top 100 male players have chosen not to participate. Now, questions are being raised ahead of the next tournament, where the top male players are still missing with only four days left until the registration deadline.

The registration deadline was extended, and letters were sent to the players, according to several Spanish media, but the situation could not be resolved. As a result, none of the top 100 male players chose to take part in the Premier Padel tournament in Gijón.

A week later, the players' union, PPA, released a statement clarifying that they had not promoted any kind of boycott of the P2 tournament in Gijón. They stated that the players want to compete but not at any price. Read more about it here.

Now, the focus shifts to the year's third Premier Padel tournament, which will take place in Mexico. The registration closes on Friday, and almost all top 100 male players are still missing from the P2 tournament entry list.

Only Tino Libaak, Juan Tello, and Clement Geens, who are all ranked in the top 100, have signed up.

On the women's side, almost all top players have already registered.

It remains to be seen how the situation develops throughout the week.
