Through to the Final After Saving Match Points
Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia are through to the final after winning every set. The battle for the second final spot was much tougher, but in the end, Juan Lebron and Franco Stupa secured their place after saving match points.
On the men’s side, the paths to the final have looked completely different. Coello and Tapia have continued their dominance from last year, reaching the final without dropping a single set.
On the other side, the competition has been far more intense. World number twos Ale Galan and Fede Chingotto were knocked out in the quarterfinals by the new pairing of Pablo Cardona and Leo Augsburger in three sets. At the same time, Juan Lebron and Franco Stupa won against Martin Di Nenno and Javi Garrido, setting up a semifinal between Augsburger/Cardona and Lebron/Stupa.
The semifinal was a tight battle, with both pairs winning a set each. At 5–4 in the deciding set, Augsburger and Cardona had two match points but couldn’t take advantage of them.
Instead, Lebron and Stupa closed out the match and secured their spot in the final with a 4–6, 6–3, 7–5 win.
The final is set for today at 5:00 PM local time (3:00 PM in Spain).
