CONFIRMED: Withdraws from Premier Padel Final
Bea Gonzalez and Claudia Fernandez secured a spot in the final after a three-hour match against Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea. However, it is now confirmed that the final will not be played.
Bea Gonzalez and Claudia Fernandez won their semifinal 4–6, 6–3, 6–4 against Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea, while Ariana Sanchez and Paula Josemaria won 6–0, 7–5 against Marta Ortega and Sofia Araujo.
The final was supposed to be played yesterday but was postponed, and shortly after, the announcement came that Bea Gonzalez had to withdraw.
"For everyone asking why we didn’t play the final in Riyadh: I’m fine. I’m still in the recovery process after my injury, and even though I feel completely fine, we need to be patient," Gonzalez wrote on Instagram, continuing:
"The season is long, and we want to take care of everything and protect as much as possible in these first tournaments."
"So, back to Madrid after a very positive week, to recover, train, and prepare for the next tournament. See you in Gijón."
This means that Ariana Sanchez and Paula Josemaria start the year with a title.
