No top players registered for Gijón P2 – registration closes tomorrow

With just over 24 hours to go until registration closes for the second Premier Padel event of the year in Gijón, no top players on the men's side have yet registered. At the moment, over 30 pairs are missing from the entry list.

Gijón P2 looks to be a different competition as all top players have so far chosen not to register. Compared to Riyadh P1, which is being played right now, there are over 30 pairs at the top who are absent. Registration closes tomorrow at 17:00.

According to the Spanish newspaper Marca, the players are unhappy about the draw:

“This newspaper has contacted some members of the PPA (Professional Padel Players Association) and although the organization has chosen to be careful and not make any statements, MARCA has been able to obtain first-hand information that the general dissatisfaction is due to the reductions in the draw in some tournaments that are mainly to the disadvantage of pairs in the middle of the rankings.”

On the women's side, all top players have registered.
