ANNONS

The Tour Finals in Barcelona are coming to an end, and on the women’s side, the finalists are decided. World No. 1s Paula Josemaria and Ariana Sanchez will play against World No. 2s Gemma Triay and Claudia Fernandez.

The Tour Finals is the last event of the year, and with the season nearly over, only the men’s semifinals, bronze matches, and the finals remain.

In the first women’s semifinal, Paula Josemaria and Ariana Sanchez faced Alejandra Salazar and Jessica Castello. Josemaria and Sanchez won in two sets, 6-4, 6-3.

In the second semifinal, Gemma Triay and Claudia Fernandez faced Delfina Brea alongside Veronica Virseda. The first set was close, tied at 5-5, but Triay and Fernandez won the next two games to take the set 7-5.

The second set was much quicker. Triay and Fernandez played strongly and finished the match with a 6-1 win.

The final score was 7-5, 6-1.

This match also had some extra interest after the Spanish newspaper Marca reported that Delfina Brea and Bea Gonzalez are expected to split up after the season. According to the same report, Brea may partner with Gemma Triay:

“Delfi Brea’s idea is to team up with Gemma Triay, but as far as this newspaper has learned, nothing is confirmed yet.”

Neither Brea nor Gonzalez has commented on their plans for next season, so it remains to be seen if this partnership will happen.

The final will take place tomorrow, where Josemaria and Sanchez face Triay and Fernandez.
