The surprise in Mexico - through to the quarter-finals
Javi Garcia and Javi Barahona have delivered a strong performance during this week's Premier Padel Major in Mexico. After two impressive wins, the pair are now through to the quarter-finals, which will be played on Saturday night.
Javi Garcia, ranked 44 in the world, and Javi Barahona, ranked 38, made it to the quarter-finals after first defeating the higher-ranked pair of Lucas Campagnolo and Javi Leal by the scores of 6-4, 6-4 in the second round.
They then put in an even stronger performance in the round of 16, beating the successful pair of Lucas Bergamini and Javi Garrido 6-2, 1-6, 7-6. Bergamini and Garrido have recently taken a set against Coello and Tapia - something few have managed to do - and also have a Premier Padel final place to their names.
Today, the quarter-finals against Mike Yanguas and Franco Stupaczuk await. The match starts at 23:30 Spanish time, is played on Court 2 and is broadcast live on YouTube.
