Fernando Belasteguín on the future: ”I want to open a club in Barcelona”
Fernando Belasteguín, the best padel player of all time, will end his professional career at the end of the season. After 30 years in the world elite, he will play his last competition in the Premier Padel P1 Milano next week, followed by a great tribute during the Tour Finals in Barcelona. In an interview with the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, he shares his plans for the future.
With 230 titles, Bela has had a career that has characterised the history of padel.
Although he won't qualify for the Tour Finals as a player, he will attend the event on 21 December. There, he will be honoured with a special match involving several of his former partners, such as Juan Martín Díaz, Seba Nerone, Juani Mieres, Gaby Reca and Pablo Lima. Close friends such as Carles Puyol and DJ Gianluca Vacchi will also be part of the celebrations.
In the interview for the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Bela talks about his ambitions after hanging up his racket.
- I continue to work with Wilson Bela, which is our franchise, and I am looking for opportunities to open a club here in Barcelona. I want to open a Bela Padel Centre in the city to bring the paddle and the brand to the world. My goal is to make Barcelona a global point of reference where many people can come to discover this great city.
Belasteguin's last competition on the World Tour will be in Milan next week, where a long and successful career comes to an end.
