Served six times in a row – without anyone noticing

ANNONS

Strange incidents have occurred in padel matches before, but the question is whether the padel world has ever witnessed anything quite like this. Virginia Riera served three times in a row in the second set – and it didn’t stop there, as the same mistake repeated in the third set.

Yesterday, an unusual incident unfolded at the Premier Padel tournament in Kuwait, where Virginia Riera and Carmen Goenaga faced Raquel Eugenio and Martina Fassio. The first set went by the book, with Riera and Goenaga taking the lead with 6-3. But confusion began to set in during the second set.

Riera broke the traditional order by serving three times in a row, during the sixth, eighth, and tenth games, which seemed to go unnoticed.

The mix-up didn’t end there. In the third set, the unusual sequence repeated, with Riera again serving in the second, fourth, and sixth games. But no one seemed to react to the irregular order of serves and opponents Eugenio and Fassio eventually managed to win the dramatic set 7-6, securing the match victory.

This incident now raises many questions regarding how neither the players nor the referee were able to detect this during the match.
