Spain's coach revealed if Lebrón and Galán will play together in the World Cup
Juanjo Gutiérrez, Spain's national team coach, spoke to *El Relevo* and clarified the doubts about whether Juan Lebrón will team up with Alejandro Galán during the upcoming World Cup in Qatar.
The answer is no. We won’t see Lebrón and Galán together, at least for now. Juanjo Gutiérrez confirmed that he sees Lebrón as a backhand player, and not on the right side of the court, which makes it impossible for him to share the court with Galán.
“Fortunately, Lebrón has the ability to play on both sides, but right now he’s here to play backhand, which is how he’s currently competing,” he explained.
Gutiérrez also explained the call-up of Álex Ruiz. Many were surprised by this choice over players like Pablo Cardona, Edu Alonso, or Momo González: “In terms of the game, with Lebrón playing backhand, we needed another player on the right side, and Álex has shown me that the Spanish jersey weighs less on him than on others. Emotionally, Álex brings a lot of experience and team cohesion. Has he had a bad year? Yes, but Álex is a special player whom I trust.”
There are 16 days left until the World Cup begins, and Spain’s main goal will be to take the crown from Argentina. The countdown is on.
