Super talent made history – now reunites with partner
Even though Andrea Ustero didn’t win the Paris Major, she was the player who made the biggest impact in the tournament. At just 17 years and four months old, she reached the final and played a crucial role in the comeback during the semifinals. It’s now confirmed that she will reunite with Alejandra Alonso.
When Bea Gonzalez announced she couldn’t participate in the upcoming tournaments, Delfi Brea seized the opportunity to partner with the 17-year-old Ustero, who was also without a partner. In the Paris semifinal, they faced Alejandra Salazar and Jessica Castello, and early on it seemed like the match was going in Salazar and Castello's favor. They quickly took a 4-1 lead, controlling the game with long and intense rallies.
However, the match took a turn as Ustero, in particular, grew more confident on the court. Her standout performance became the decisive factor as she and Brea turned the tables and won the first set 6-4. Ultimately, they claimed the match, making Ustero the youngest player to ever reach a Major final.
In the final against world number ones Ariana Sanchez and Paula Josemaria, the start was even, but Sanchez and Josemaria took over and dominated the second set to secure the title. During the award ceremony, the world number ones congratulated and encouraged Ustero, who had undeniably made her mark in the padel world.
Now, Delfi Brea and Andrea Ustero will part ways for the next Premier Padel tournament. Ustero will reunite with her former partner Alejandra Alonso, while Delfi Brea will team up with the experienced Lucia Sainz.
