World number ones after the semifinal: "Each set felt like a new match"
World number ones Ariana Sanchez and Paula Josemaria advanced to another final, but it was far from the easy match many had expected. After the match, during the press conference, Josemaria spoke about how she experienced each set as a new match.
Ariana Sanchez and Paula Josemaria took the first set 6-2 in the semifinal, but Veronica Virseda and Aranzazu Osoro fought back, winning the second set 6-3, forcing a third set.
In the third set, the score remained even at 2-2, with Virseda and Osoro having the chance to break, but instead, the world number ones secured the break and took a 4-2 lead. They maintained control and won the match 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.
- I think tactics were very important in this match. You play one set and then it's like a new match in the next. In the second set they were better and we couldn't find an opening, which made us frustrated’, Josemaria explained.
She continued:
— But in the third set, we managed to find the right tactics. The coach helped us and gave us more confidence. We played well and managed to break. We took the opportunity when we got it, Paula Josemaria told Padel Alto and the media at the press conference.
Sanchez: "A great match for the audience"
Today they face new challenges. For the first time they will be up against the temporary pair of Delfi Brea and Andrea Ustero, who have impressed on their way to the final.
— We've tried to take a look at their game. They will also have a strong desire to win. We know it will be a great match and a good experience for the audience, said Ariana Sanchez.
