Major controversy with the UAE national team for naturalizing 4 Spaniards
ANNONS
Today, the quarterfinals of the Asia & Africa Qualifiers for the Qatar World Cup will take place. The UAE national team has sparked the anger of the other delegations and a major controversy in the tournament.
This is because UAE has nationalized and granted passports to four Spanish players, two of whom have extensive experience in Premier Padel. These players are Íñigo Jofre, Arnau Ayats, Sergio Icardo, and Fran Jurado.
Jofre will, in fact, be the new partner of Juan Tello starting from the Paris Major next week.
Many teams have condemned this action as unsportsmanlike and feel disadvantaged in terms of their chances to participate in the World Cup.
In the men's quarterfinals, the matchups are:
- Japan vs. Egypt
- Australia vs. Bahrain
- UAE vs. Saudi Arabia
- Kuwait vs. Iran
In the women's quarterfinals:
- Japan vs. Iran
- Australia vs. UAE
- Oman vs. Philippines
- Kuwait vs. Egypt
