After the cancellation of the Premier competition - players choose FIP
The new pair, Alex Ruiz and Alex Arroyo, will soon make their debut in the Premier Padel competition in Paris. It has also been confirmed that the pair will take part in the FIP Gold Lyon the following week. More pairs may sign up for the event, as it falls on the same dates as the Premier Padel event in Sweden before it was cancelled.
Premier Padel's 2024 schedule was announced in full at the end of last year. The schedule showed that a P2 tournament, the third category of Premier Padel, was scheduled to be held in Sweden between 7 and 13 October. But where this tournament would be played was never communicated.
A few weeks ago, it was announced that the competition in Sweden will not be held this autumn.
”The planned Sweden Premier Padel P2 will not take place in October 2024, to ensure better spacing and more balanced intervals during a particularly busy period for players.”
This means that the players have been given an extra week off from the Premier Padel competitions. With the tough competition for the FIP points, several players have now taken the chance to sign up for the FIP Gold Lyon.
Currently Alex Ruiz and Alex Arroyo are seeded first on the men's side, but it is likely that more couples chasing points will sign up in the coming days. Registration closes next Wednesday and the competition will take place between 8 and 13 October.
