Here's the current list of Argentina's call-ups for the World Cup as of today

ANNONS

The 2024 Qatar FIP World Padel Championships is getting closer, and the teams are finalizing their definitive rosters. Argentina has some players locked in, but there are others who are gradually gaining momentum.

4 Confirmed Names

It has been known for some time that four players are guaranteed a spot on Argentina's list, due to their current form, skill level, and experience: Agustín Tapia, Federico Chingotto, Franco Stupaczuk, and Martín Di Nenno.

Looking at possible pairings, it’s highly likely that padel fans will once again enjoy watching "Los Superpibes" in action. Additionally, Chingotto and Tapia, who have faced each other in every Premier Padel final, could unite here to form a formidable duo.

3 Rising Contenders

Leandro Augsburger is making a strong impact for selection. He recently reached the semifinals of the Rotterdam P1, and his game continues to mature.

Moreover, his style is well-suited to the fast-court conditions typical of Qatar. Lastly, having already played with Chozas and Libaak, he is a versatile option that pairs well with other players in contention. As of today, he has a good chance of making the final list.

Fernando Belasteguín and Juan Tello recently announced their split, but they still have an edge for selection. They just had a great tournament in Rotterdam, reaching the quarterfinals and coming close to defeating Yanguas-Stupa.

It’s also hard to believe that Bela, in his final professional season, wouldn’t be called up. Meanwhile, Tello, with his physical prowess and experience, seems likely to secure a spot. Tello could partner with Di Nenno or Chingotto, both of whom he has previously represented Argentina alongside.

One Spot Left

Here’s where things get tricky. There’s one vacant spot in the list of eight selected players. Álex Chozas recently showed in Rotterdam that he has plenty to offer. Tino Libaak, though currently a step behind, will have the opportunity to prove his worth alongside Bela and show what he still has left in the tank.

It’s impossible to overlook more experienced names like Sanyo Gutiérrez or Maxi Sánchez, although for now, they seem to be behind the others mentioned.

The World Championship is fast approaching, where Argentina will defend its crown.
