After the disappointing end - loses place in the ranking

ANNONS

Bea González and Delfi Brea were forced to withdraw from Sunday's final after González suffered an injury. This has also led to the pair losing their place as world number twos, affecting their important seeding.

The injury occurred in the second set of the final in Madrid, where González and Brea faced Gemma Triay and Claudia Fernández. A shoulder injury forced Bea González to retire from the match, which not only meant the pair lost a chance at the title, but also their position as world number two. Triay and Fernández are now the new world number two with a 140-point lead.

This means that González and Brea no longer have a seed for the final and could play a higher-ranked pair in the semi-finals.

González's injury also means that the pair will not take part in this week's competition in the Netherlands.
