Two unstoppable pairs in the mixed matches of the Pro Padel League

The Pro Padel League has a distinctive feature: the mixed match that pits two franchises against each other in the third and decisive point of each series. Some teams adapt better than others, but without a doubt, there are two pairs that have been performing outstandingly throughout the season.

Tolito Aguirre and Jess Castelló of the Los Angeles Beat once again secured the series for the franchise, champions of the second PPL event. Castelló, usually a backhand player, switched to the right side and let the Argentine take charge of closing the points.

In the post-match interview, both highlighted the importance of having played together in Miami and how comfortable they feel on the court. Victoria Iglesias and Javi Barahona of the Toronto Polar Bears were their victims this time around.

On the other hand, Marta Ortega and Gonzalo Alfonso of the Las Vegas Smash were back to their winning ways. The A1 Padel number 1 couldn't participate in the first matchday due to traveling from Marbella to San Diego, but yesterday he was able to suit up in Smash uniform again.

Alfonso and Ortega proved to be a lethal combination in Miami and started off on the right foot in this third event. Las Vegas is looking to retain the crown they won in 2023.

The PPL will continue today with four more group stage matchups. Starting on Saturday, the semifinals and final of the tournament will take place.
