This is what happened when Di Nenno and Stupa parted ways: “He called me”
Martin Di Nenno and Franco Stupaczuk have parted ways after playing over 40 competitions together. But how did the separation happen? Padel Alto explains that in this article. A story that started with a phone call.
This news has shaken the padel world. “Superpibes” has come to an end. Di Nenno and Stupa played together throughout the 2023 season and so far in 2024. Despite reaching the finals of the Sevilla P2 tournament this year, they have not achieved the expected results.
It was a few weeks ago that information started to circulate that Martin Di Nenno and Franco Stupaczuk would end their collaboration. Just a few hours later, the players themselves confirmed the news.
Stupaczuk wrote that it was his partner's decision and that he respects it:
“It's been a year and a half in which we have fought to the fullest, especially in 2023 where we fought for number one until the last tournament of the season.”
But what was really happening behind the scenes? It was Martin Di Nenno who wanted a change and therefore called Stupa and told him about his decision. Stupa told the Spanish magazine Relevo:
- It was a phone call, like any other, there is no secret. People want to look for something, but it is not so. He called me and said he needed a change and that he felt better with Lebron, “says the Argentine.
Stupa also reveals that several players have called him during his time with Di Nenno. But he won't say which players they are.
- “Yes, I got calls from top players, but I prioritized the team. I'm not going to tell you who called me, because it could create a big mess.
The Argentinian was also asked how he sums up his collaboration with Di Nenno:
- Very good, especially last year, when we won most of the titles, the last rounds and fought for the first place until the end of the year. I always take the good things from each teammate, the things that you have struggled with or experienced that were not so good I take as a learning experience.
