Two big upsets in the Málaga P1

The women's bracket of the Málaga P1 has lost two top pairs who had aspirations of making it to the weekend. The pairs Araújo-Ortega and Virseda-Salazar have been eliminated.

Araújo and Ortega were champions last week in the Genoa P2 in their first tournament as a pair. However, in this week's quarterfinals, they were surprised by a spectacular performance from Lucía Sainz and Patty Llaguno. The final score was 6/4 6/2.

For Llaguno and Sainz, this will be their fourth semifinal in the last 5 tournaments. It’s a spectacular moment of the season for them.

On the other hand, Virseda and Salazar fell to Osoro and Marrero by 6/3 and 6/1. The Argentine and the former number 1 will be playing their second quarterfinal since Marrero's return to professional padel (the first was in the Bordeaux P2). Marrero and Osoro are the only pair outside the top 8 in the quarterfinals.

Today, the 4 semifinalist pairs will be determined. Bea González will continue to pursue her dream of becoming champion in her home city.
