Golden Point or advantage? — the decision for the European Championship is taken
In recent years, we have gotten used to the Golden Point rule in the World Padel Tour. But when Premier Padel took over the world tour, it changed to the classic advantage rule. The rules have varied over the last two championships, but now a decision has been made for this summer's European Championship.
Should one point be enough to win the game, or should you have to win two in a row? The rules have varied between different tours and championships in recent years. During the final years of the World Padel Tour, the audience got used to the Golden Point.
But when Premier Padel was created, the message was clear after consulting with the players – the classic advantage rule would apply. On the FIP tour, the Golden Point still applies to all players, making matches faster and easier for organizers with full schedules.
In championships, the rules have varied. Two years ago in Marbella, the Golden Point was used, while the last World Championship used the classic advantage. For this summer's European Championship, the decision is now clear: the classic advantage will apply. This was announced by the International Padel Federation on its website.
