Salazar: "After three failed competitions, you change your partner"
Many players have changed partners several times during the year. Now Alejandra Salazar is speaking out about the repeated separations and new partnerships.
- Nowadays you want to get results straight away and if it doesn't work in three tournaments you change partners, she told the Spanish newspaper El Periódico.
The world of padel has seen many separations this year. The most notable was when Alejandro Galan and Juan Lebron decided to go their separate ways. Lebron started a new partnership with Paquito Navarro, but now a few months later, this partnership seems to be over as well.
Another example is when Gemma Triay and Marta Ortega ended their partnership before the season had even started. These frequent changes have led to discussions within the padel world.
Now Alejandra Salazar speaks out about the repeated separations and new partnerships.
- Today, you want to get results right away and if it doesn't work in three tournaments, you change partners. That commitment and dedication to improve with your partner in the long term has been lost," she told the Spanish newspaper El Periódico
She also tells the paper that it has been important for her to get to know her partner well in order to find a good partnership:
- I have always tried to empathise and know the other person well. I always treat them according to what they need to make it easy for them. I think that's how you perform better and that empathy allows you to get the best out of both players. Creating a good atmosphere is important, you have to talk to each other with respect.
She continues:
- Over the years I have learnt that it is crucial to have a psychologist who works with the whole team, not just the players.
