WME Sports has launched a new project in padel and has signed a contract with world number one Arturo Coello. The people behind the new initiative are former world number one Hernan Auguste and padel coach Daniel Dios.

WME Sports is the world's oldest agency, founded in 1898. In 2009, it acquired IMG, a leader in sports, events, media, and fashion.

Now the global company is entering the world of padel.

”Leveraging the expertise and resources across WME Sports, as well as strategic synergies with IMG’s tennis division (part of WME Sports), the padel team will accelerate the sport’s expansion globally alongside the international governing bodies," the company said in a press release.

The padel team will be led by Hernan Auguste, former world number one who has been the Head of the World Padel Tour and LeDap Group. He will work together with the former coach, Daniel Dios.

The launch of the project also included the announcement of the signing of world number one Arturo Coello to the team:

“We’re proud to welcome the world’s top-ranked player Arturo Coello as our first signing as we see him as a transcendent athlete who can elevate padel into a mainstream sport globally," Dios said in the press release.

Arturo Coello:

“I’m excited to continue working with my manager Miki Sánchez and to be the first padel signing for WME Sports as there’s so much enthusiasm for the sport around the world”.
