The Santiago P1 is delayed by a day due to issues with the court
The Santiago P1 will be the third and final tournament of the South American tour. Premier Padel has had to delay everything by a day due to issues with the court carpet at the Movistar Arena.
The preliminary rounds were supposed to start on Sunday, but the courts were not in optimal condition. Premier Padel decided to postpone everything to Monday, which will push the entire schedule back by a day compared to the original plan.
The circuit has issued a statement distancing itself from any responsibility for the situation: “Further to a regrettable delay in the installation of certain court infrastructure by the local promoter, after consultation with the PPA and the IPPA, it has been decided to delay the start of the Santiago P1 by one day.”
The new schedule for the week has not yet been published. The tournament organizers will need to rearrange everything to make up for the lost day. It's important to remember that, being a P1 tournament, the draws are larger and the match load is greater.
