Gemma Triay on new partnership: "I wanted to make a change"

ANNONS

Gemma Triay and Claudia Fernández have played three competitions together, reaching the final at best. Now Triay talks about the collaboration.

After the last season, Gemma Triay announced that she would continue her partnership with Marta Ortega. But after the Hexagon Cup, Triay changed her mind and ended the partnership.

Instead, she teamed up with the super-talented Claudia Fernández. The pair have now played three tournaments together, reaching the final at best. In an interview with Mundo Deportivo, Triay talks about the new partnership:

- It is true that I was not used to playing with someone so young, although I had played with Marta (Ortega), who is younger than me but has been playing for so many years that she is experienced. Now I also felt that I wanted to make a change. I like her a lot because I think she is capable of everything, she is very mature. Time will tell how far we can go and what we can fight for this year. Lately I have been saying that I think the goals we are ready for will be more visible in the middle of the year.

She continues:

- She is 18 years old and she has a temperament and a calmness that surprises me a lot considering the little experience she has. I think we get along very well, we are both clear about what we want. She is very shy and I want to help her to open up a bit more, but each of us has our own things. I think we are doing well. We haven't had much time to train yet, but we'll see if we can have a good tournament in Brussels.

The next Premier Padel tournament will be played next week in Belgium.
