Gemma Triay on missing the WPT: ”They did a spectacular job”

ANNONS

At the end of August, the news came out that Premier Padel's owner acquires the World Padel Tour and that it becomes one and the same professional tour. Now after four tournaments played, world number three Gemma Triay speaks about the new tour.

It had been speculated for a long time and Padel Alto had previously reported information that suggests that Premier Padel and the World Padel Tour will combine in 2024. But at the end of August, the final announcement came: Premier Padel's owner Qatar Sports Investment buys the World Padel Tour and becomes one and the same tour.

Now after four tournaments played, world number three Gemma Triay speaks about the new tour to the newspaper Mundo Deportivo

- It's a very tight calendar, I don't think it's easy to have 25 competitions this year. We have only had four, we are at the beginning. There are many very positive things and others that we must continue to improve together. In the end, the fact that there is only one circuit is positive for everyone, and also for the spectators. It was difficult to play two tours at the same time, so it is much better to have an agreement between them.

She also talks about the missing of the World Padel Tour:

- There were many tournaments here in Spain and it was also much more comfortable for us, and playing in a crowded arena is always special and unique. I also miss the people, in the end you get attached to all the workers. They did a spectacular job, a job for ten very good years. Now we hope that Premier Padel can grow.

The next Premier Padel competition will be held next week in Belgium.
