A pair outside the top 4 will be champion for the first time since 2021

ANNONS

The women's padel scene has been dominated by a group of players for several years now. No pair outside the top 4 has managed to be crowned since July 2021, a statistic that will be broken tonight at the Acapulco P1.

Back then, young Delfi Brea and Tamara Icardo defeated the almighty Alejandra Salazar  and Gemma Triay in the final of the World Padel Tour in Valencia. This fact is provided by the journalist Alberto Bote.

Brea and Icardo were the number 7 pair in the rankings and managed to overcome the number 4 pair (Marrero-Ortega) in the quarterfinals, and the number 1 pair (Triay-Salazar) in the final.

The Acapulco P1 final will feature two pairs outside the top 4 since that Valencia final. Sofi Araraújo and Virginia Riera (pair 6) will face Claudia Jensen and Jess Castelló (pair 7) in the battle for the crown in Mexico.

The final will begin tonight starting at midnight Spanish time.
