Tolito and Alfonso, champions of the first 2024 A1 Padel tournament

Tolito Aguirre and Gonza Alfonso confirmed on the red carpet what was expected of them since they announced their partnership. The Magicians clinched the first title of the A1 Padel circuit season, the SIMSA Puebla Open, defeating Fede Chiostri and Maxi Sánchez in the final with a double 6/3 scoreline in just over an hour of play.

The Arena BUAP was at its finest for the conclusion of the first Open of the year. The spectacle began with the Mariachis and ended with another performance, the flawless one offered by Aguirre and Alfonso, showcasing the magic that characterizes them.

As early as the third game of the opening set, they managed to break their opponents' serve, and despite Chiostri and Sánchez having opportunities to recover, they saw once again in the ninth game how Aguirre and Alfonso closed the set with another break.

With that joyful and entertaining play, making the difficult seem easy, Aguirre and Alfonso dominated most of the game against a Maxi Sánchez who initially made many mistakes.

Parity in the second set was maintained until the fifth game, when the champions once again secured the break. It was practically the verdict. Despite the good defense and effective shot-making at times, it wasn't enough for the finalists to sow doubts in The Magicians, who bid farewell to Puebla with another display of incredible shots.

The beginning was more than promising. That "courtship" phase, as Tolito never tired of repeating, started in the best possible way, and hopefully, the romance will last a long time, for the good of paddle tennis.

In a few days, they will be in Monaco, under completely different conditions, and it will be the moment to see how far The Magicians can go.
