Historic WPT city bets on the new circuit

At the end of last year, the Premier Padel calendar for the 2024 season was released. It shows that there will be no competition in the classic WPT venue Vigo.
Now comes information that the new tour Ultimate Padel Tour wants to organise a tournament in the town.

Premier Padel's schedule for 2024 was released in full in December.

A total of 25 venues have been selected in 18 different countries. New venues such as Riyadh, Geneva, Bordeaux and Kuwait will become new venues. Spain will have a total of four events, two in Malaga and Seville, one in Madrid and then the Master Final in Barcelona. This means that there will be no Premier Padel event in Vigo.

Vigo has in recent years been a classic venue for WPT tournaments. But now there will be no Premier Padel event in the city.

Instead, the city plans to organise an Ultimate Padel Tour competition. According to the local newspaper Atlantico.

"Vigo wants to continue having a high-level padel tournament despite the disappearance of the World Padel Tour when it joins the new Premier Padel Tour. Joining such an elite, which barely has four cities in Spain, means a huge expense, so the council has decided to invest in the new Ultimate Padel Tour".

The Ultimate Padel Tour has not yet confirmed a competition in Vigo. But 14 of the tour's venues are currently undecided.
