Pro Padel League - Draft day

Today will be an important day for the Pro Padel League (PPL), as more than 300 players will discover in the draft whether they will be part of the second edition of the American professional circuit.

Only 23 players will have the fortune of being selected and competing for the prize money, which this year amounts to one million dollars.

The PPL will have three new teams: Houston Volts, Flowrida Goats, and New York Atlantics. Each of them will have three picks initially, and then all teams, including these three, will have two more picks. Each franchise will have 12 players, two more than last year.

Marcos del Pilar, president and founder of the PPL, referred in a press release to the international interest that the circuit is arousing: "Just like last year, I had applications from over 20 different countries. This year it is more or less the same. We have people applying from all over the world - Asia, Middle East, Europe, of course and the Americas, both the Americas."

He also assured that they will continue to use the draft system to resemble the major American sports: "The draft is an important element to PPL, as it replicates a system used in other major sports in North America such as the NFL (American Football), MBL (baseball) and NBA (basketball)."

Let's remember that the regular season of the PPL will begin in April, with two consecutive tournaments in Florida.
