Jon Sanz disappointed with the new ranking: "It's not fair"
The new ranking for 2024 is here with several changes. World star Jon Sanz has dropped twelve places.
Now he speaks out about the situation:
As of this year, a tour will be played, under the name Premier Padel and managed by the International Padel Federation (FIP). It also means a new world ranking that is mainly based on Premier Padel and FIP events but also a number of WPT events.
Jon Sanz has dropped twelve places in the new ranking. Now he speaks out about the change:
— The change in the rankings affects me. I am the player who is affected the most, from 10th to 22nd. It is something we have to accept, but it has taken us from the top eight, which is the position we finished in last year. We have to climb and the goal is to be in the Masters," he told Mundo Deportivo.
He continues:
— It can't be that tournaments from 2022 are taken into account, I think that's completely unreasonable. After we realised that the tournaments from 2023 were not worthy until September. It's not fair, but we have to accept it.
Jon Sanz and Coki Nieto will start the new season as the ninth-ranked pair.
