Confirmed: Spain to host another FIP Platinum competition

ANNONS

A few weeks ago it was announced that four Premier Padel tournaments will be played in Spain. This is a big loss for the country that last year hosted eleven WPT competitions.
Now it is clear that another FIP Platinum tournament will be played in Spain.

Premier Padel's schedule for 2024 was released in full in December.

A total of 25 venues have been selected in 18 different countries. New venues include Riyadh, Geneva, Bordeaux and Kuwait. Spain gets a total of four competitions, two of these in Andalusia where Malaga and Seville are well placed to get the competitions, one in Madrid and then the Master Final in Barcelona. This means that there will be no Premier Padel competition in Menorca.

Menorca has in recent years been a classic venue for WPT competitions and was also the host for the 2020 Master Final. But now there will be no Premier Padel competition in Menorca.

Instead, a FIP Platinum event will be organised in Menorca. This was announced by the Spanish Padel Federation yesterday:

“For the last five years, Menorca has hosted padel competitions at the highest level and this year Menorca could not be an exception in the calendar but had to have an event,” says Ramón Morcillo, President of the Spanish Padel Federation.

He continues:

“Therefore, from the International Padel Federation, the Spanish Padel Federation, the Padel Federation of the Balearic Islands and Biosport as local promoter, we have worked side by side to make a competition of this level a reality and we are confident that it will be a success, both in terms of organisation and participation, as it has been in the past”.

FIP Platinum is the competition category under Premier Padel where champions receive 200 FIP points. The competition will take place between 20 and 14 October.
