Details: Premier Padel has taken a decision about Golden Point

From next year, Premier Padel will be the official world tour. Now the Spanish newspaper Relevo reports that Golden Point will not be part of Premier Padel.

As of next season, a tour will be played under the name Premier Padel and will be governed by the International Padel Federation (FIP). This was announced by Premier Padel's owner, Qatar Sports Investment, in a press release earlier this year, where QSI communicated the takeover of the World Padel Tour.

Some changes will take place and some structures will be maintained from the World Padel Tour. This was told by Eno Polo (CEO of Premier Padel):

— WPT has done very well, and it is thanks to them that there is a professional tour. We have talked about keeping some things that have worked, I have good relations with them, while other things need to change to provide a more global structure with organisers in countries where we have not worked so far," Polo told Marca. 

Golden Point expected to disappear

One of the expected changes is the disappearance of the Golden Point. In recent years, WPT matches have been played with Golden Point to shorten the time of the matches. However, it is not expected to follow the Premier Padel tour in 2024, reports Spanish newspaper Relevo.

"Following the merger of the tours under the Premier Padel brand, the decision has been made that Golden Point will not be used again from next season. It was one of the biggest conflict issues because each tour had its rules. In less than three months, they have ended the debate after consulting the players and won by a large majority to remove the Golden Point", writes the newspaper.

It is important to point out that Premier Padel has not played with Golden Point since the start of the tour.
