Top duo eliminated - first big upset in Mexico

Sanyo Gutiérrez and Agustin Gutierrez are out of the WPT tournament in Mexico. The pair lost to Francisco Guerrero and Teodoro Zapata in the first round.

This week sees the last World Padel Tour competition before the Master Final. Or at least the last competition with Damm's concept. Premier Padel will take over the world tour next year after the takeover was announced in August.

It was the debut and farewell for the eighth-seeded pair in the tournament, Sanyo Gutiérrez and Agustin Gutierrez. The pair had to leave the tournament after the first match when the qualifying pair Francisco Guerrero and Teodoro Zapata made a strong effort and knocked out the family duo Gutierrez.

The result was: 4-6, 6-1, 7-6.

Now, Francisco Guerrero and Teodoro Zapata will play in the round of 16 against Juan Martin Diaz and Miguel Lamperti. It is worth noting that JMD is playing his last professional tournament this week.
